The Las Vegas Valley Bicycle Club would like thank all of our participants and volunteers that turned out for the 2012 3rd Annual Poker Ride benefiting the Student Hospitality and Culinary Club of the CCSD Northwest Career and Technical Academy on Saturday April 14th. The participation was well below that of last year because of other events scheduled for the same Saturday date. We are sure that the threat of possible harsh weather conditions was against us as well. Even with that, some brave cyclists did go out in the cold and rainy weather anyway. The rain quickly stopped right after the ride started and our brave participants seemed to have a better time after that. There were great door prize gifts again this year donated by our sponsoring bicycle shops, Peloton Sports, ProCyclery, Las Vegas Cyclery, McGhie's Ski Bike & Board, and Gizmo Gear clothing. As well as cash prizes that were awarded for the best poker hand, second best hand and the worst hand, at the end of the ride we had a nice luncheon for our cyclists and volunteers provided for us by the school staff. Please look for this event to be scheduled in 2013 about the same Saturday next April. Tell your cyclist friends to join us and help make this the best fun cycling event of the spring season in Greater Las Vegas.
